Published: 08/02/2007 @ 08:14:38Speciality bread and pastry supplier Mantinga has been awarded “Start-up Business of the Year” at the Gloucestershire Business Awards. The judges were searching for evidence of early financial success together with a sound business plan likely to ensure continued growth and sustainability. Founder and MD Steven Mackintosh commented "I am particularly pleased for the team, public recognition in this way, confirms that their passion and commitment has really created a business of national credibility, an accomplishment we can all be proud of."
In just 2 years Mantinga has achieved a national customer base including farm shops, delis, garden centres, sandwich shops, restaurants and a burgeoning list of prestige clients, such as Macdonalds Hotels, SA Brain's brewery and Manchester United.
Mantinga operates out of two main frozen distribution facilities in the UK located in Gloucester and Manchester distributing 35,000 frozen products a month and turns over almost £2 million per annum. They source the most authentic craft bakery products from across Europe with a diverse portfolio of over 170 products which include recent new launches such as the 'Health & Organic Range' and the 'Flavoured Oval Panini Range'.
The awards were announced during a presentation dinner last Thursday at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse hosted by keynote speaker John Humphreys.
