Mantinga adds three more gold stars to its range of bake-off products

 

Mantinga, the specialist bread company has won three gold stars at the Great Taste Awards 2009 from the Guild of Fine Foods. The award winning products are the Multigrain Croissant, Seeded Wholemeal Loaf and Green Olive Loaf with Mediterranean Herbs.

 

Steven Mackintosh, founder and Managing Director of Mantinga commented on hearing the news, “I am delighted that we have won three gold stars at the Great Taste Awards 2009, and that now we have won gold stars for three consecutive years. My thanks go to all the judges! This confirms my belief that we are unrivalled in the UK for our range of quality products for bake-off. This is the second time that the Seeded Wholemeal Loaf has won an award at the Great Taste Awards showing consistency and quality of production; something we are always striving to achieve with our artisan bakery partners. We will continue to build on our philosophy of bakery innovation and sourcing quality, authentic products to ensure that our customers can purchase unique, artisan breads for bake-off whilst minimising wastage and keeping overheads in check.”

 

The Multigrain Croissant is sourced from an artisan bakery in Germany. The croissant is made from germ-bud flour containing eleven germinated grains including peas, lupin, wheat germ and red clover as well as whole linseed, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. The use of germ-bud flour means the product stays fresh longer and has the added taste and health benefits from the 11 germinated and cracked seeds.

 

The Seeded Wholemeal loaf is based on the traditional Eastern European rye bread and similarly the bread is born from a natural sourdough starter, allowing a long fermentation to take place. Healthy sunflower, linseed and sesame seeds are combined with wholemeal grains and rye flour to add texture and flavour and the loaf is hand-scored, once proven, before being baked. 

 

Crammed with intense green Spanish olives and infused with herbs, the Olive Bread with Mediterranean herbs has a light, open textured crumb.  It is traditionally stone-baked with a thick outer crust.
